Anita Michelle Tillman

Anita Michelle Tillman is a native of Calhoun, Louisiana where she attended West Ouachita High School and excelled as a student-athlete, earning multiple academic scholarship offers and graduating in the top 10 in her class. She accepted a full-ride scholarship to Southern University in Baton Rouge where she majored in Electrical Engineering, graduated cum laude, and earned the Student Marshal honors.

Anita is the founder and CEO of AMCorp International, a strategic advisory corporation that empowers clients - primarily government organizations - to identify and implement strategies for service, sustainability, and success. Anita’s superpower is helping others elevate their view and value of themselves. She is constantly coaching clients through transitions and helping them build the bridge from right now to what’s next.

Anita has touched the lives of countless people as a mentor and coach. From teaching life skills to homeless youth and at-risk young adults to teaching communications skills and strategies to entrepreneurs and elected officials, she has earned her reputation as, “the Fixer.” In response to the economic brokenness so many struggled with as a result of the pandemic, in 2020 Anita launched the Goodness & Mercy Project, a philanthropic initiative that since has raised thousands to assist families in need at Christmas.

Anita is a Charter Member of KOA and she serves on the Queen’s Council, Executive Committee, Special Events Committee, Communications Committee, and Ball Committee. She often serves as Mistress of Ceremonies for krewe events and is the Founding Chair of the KOA Kidz.

As a KOA member and parent of a small child, Anita wanted to create an avenue for our children to know that while they are not members, they are still a big part of the KOA family. In 2019, she spearheaded the KOA Kidz Lemonade Day to teach entrepreneurship and project management to our children. She has labeled the KOA Kidz as our extra-small business owners, and as they learn business principles and pro- ject management skills, they consistently reap the financial rewards of their hard work.

Anita’s platform is Unmasked, Unplugged, and Unbothered and under that platform she has opened dialogue amongst members about topics such as self-worth, identity, living in the moment, and enjoying life. True to her love for the Ladies of KOA, the KOA Kidz, and philanthropy, Anita has also established the SeVIIn Scholarship Fund that, beginning in 2022, will award scholarships to Krewe of Athena members’ children who are graduating and enrolling in HBCUs and majoring in STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math).
Anita is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Nexus Louisiana, and President of the A.M. Tillman Foundation, a non-profit organization formed to provide leadership, mentorship, and assistance to at-risk minorities through philanthropy and life skills development.

Anita is overwhelmed with gratitude for the love and support of the Ladies of KOA, her family, especially her parents, Fredrick and Carolyn Tillman, siblings, grandmother, and especially her home team of Girod, Sydnie, Sabeon, and fur baby Sprinkles.
